March 2004 Newsletter
Dear Friend of Yoga,
Spring is nearly here, and this gives us the opportunity to welcome
it in our usual manner, with open arms in sun salutations. Join us for
our seasonal 108 Sun Salutations, Friday March 19, 7-9am. Connie will
lead the chanting and there will be breakfast afterwards. Join us just
to chant, or do 8 or 108 sun salutations.

another form of yoga and want to explore the ashtanga system. Christine Hoar
is back from Vermont by popular demand for the third year in a row. She has
just spent a month in Mysore, India, under Pattabhi Jois. Her energy is as
infectious as her explanations are clear. Register now.
YiY Hiking Group
On Sunday, March 14, the YiY Hiking Group is going to the Sunol
Open Space and planning a 4 mile loop hike. It is described as a moderate
hike. We will carpool from YIY parking lot at 10am. Bring your lunch,
water and it is time for sunscreen and hats.
Schedule Changes
NEW Thursday noon class, core yoga with Jenny Payne. Jenny has
been living and breathing yoga for nine years. She completed her first
yoga teacher training at The White Lotus Institute, and her most recent
at The Forrest Yoga Circle in Santa Monica. Her hope is that her passion
for yoga will be contagious. and spread to all of her students. Core
yoga brings students through specific abdominal exercises, breathwork,
hip openers and creative movement sequencing. This class is challenging,
yet easy on the joints and healing for the back and neck.
Mysore India Blog
This wildly popular online diary comes directly to us from Anne and 3 students
who are currently in Mysore studying ashtanga yoga with Pattabhi Jois, the
founder of the style. Recent entries include a visit to a Tibetan settlement
with lots of photos, a detailed account of the costs of the trip, and the
trials and benefits of a 10 day silent meditation retreat.
Thank you from the whole team at YiY!
