Ashtanga yoga is a strong, athletic practice which encourages the release
of toxins in the body, facilitating healing and overall health. In this
workshop we did the full Primary Series with an emphasis on where certain
primary series poses can be taken further in the more advanced series.
Lauren demonstrated advanced postures throughout the workshop and taught
foundational work on handstands, dropbacks, and other postures using the
wall or a partner.
Lauren Peterson is a respected yoga teacher in Malibu, California.
She is a student of Iyengar yoga, and an advanced Ashtanga yoga practitioner.
Lauren has been featured in the television series Healing Quest, and in
Yoga Journal Magazine for the yoga program she started at the Monte Nido
Treatment Center for women dealing with eating disorders. Lauren is also
the creator of The Yogi's Companion, a yoga practice CD, which was chosen
as an editor's choice by Yoga Journal Magazine. She counts among her clients
Cher, Olympic gold medallist Greg Louganis and Nick Nolte. Check out her
